My son was refusing to go to school. I’m a single parent of two working in a full time professional job. I was completely overwhelmed with stress of managing everything alone. So I reached out to family services who put me in touch with Fran from freedom childcare. She listened and reassured me that it would be ok. Fran came round the same day to talk to me and my son. Together we devised a plan to support the mornings and remove some of the stress. Now I don’t feel that I’m completely alone, knowing that there is someone to call on for practical support is life changing and I’m truly grateful.
I just wanted to say how impressed we are with your team. When Di dropped off his things yesterday, she kindly spent some time having a chat. Hearing how the team managed situations and the observations made, just went to show how experienced and knowledgeable they are. As you know, that continuity of methods is crucial and has meant he’s settled back home smoothly.
Our past experience with a different residential company’s team was awful. So glad Simon contacted you. You’ve all been so professional, reliable and skilled. We felt confident he was in good hands.
Family coaching has offered us consistent support to address the practical elements of managing a child with complex communication and mental health needs. Sam provides a non-judgemental approach to planning, wherein she is able to make suggestions, listen to our views on them and then make alterations to meet our family’s needs. Family coaching has enabled us to have protected time to reflect on the week’s achievements and challenges, regroup, and rethink about the strategy for the next week. We feel listened to by Sam – she has the time and understanding to be able to work with the dynamics of the whole family rather than seeing each child’s behaviour in isolation. Taking this more holistic approach has enabled us to make small but steady progress in areas which affect the family’s daily life. For example we have been able to make changes to the showering rituals which take back some of the control she has such a pathological need to exert. Working with Sam on set strategies and actual scripts has meant we have been empowered to take control even when faced with violent and challenging behaviour. We are starting to be more effective in co-parenting as a result of a planned approach to managing her behaviour.
A big thank you to Diane for all her support this year. Diane has been great, easy to get on with, and fair and honest. She is a credit to Freedom Care and the service you provide. I would have no hesitation recommending Diane and Freedom Childcare to anybody who needs your services. Working with Freedom Care has been a pleasure. The staff that have worked in our home have fit in perfectly. They arrive promptly and ready get stuck in from the minute they arrive. Their commitment cannot be questioned and you sense they care for the young people and develop their own relationships and have a form of attachment that you wouldn’t always expect from an agency. The staff we have worked with have a positive, can-do attitude and have calming skills to manage very challenging situations. Overall, our working relationship has been fantastic The office staff are also very supportive and are proactive in offering additional support such as sharing ideas, ensuring effective supervision and feedback takes place, and do their absolute utmost to ensure shifts are covered last minute or not letting us down if their own staff are ill.

I am a mum to two girls, now 12 & 9, both of whom have additional needs. I came out of an unhappy marriage in 2013. After a while contact unfortunately became virtually non-existent between the girls and their father. I had no family I could depend on for help with my children. For a couple of years I managed while working and going through the divorce and a number of health issues with the help of good friends.

Fran and the team are professional, committed and have the sheer grit and determination needed to work with some of our most challenging young people. They have an excellent communication system where the social care team have up to the minute updates and they are knowledgeable around risk management and planning.
